Dear Community Members, As we acknowledge the past year since the 2025 LA Fires began, many memories and thoughts surface for those impacted by the Eaton and Palisades Fires. This time can bring reflection, emotion, and a reminder of just how much has changed and become over the past year. This month can also present time to pause, honor what was lost, recognize the changes and progress that have led us through the past year, and discover space for hope and connection on the road to recovery. "We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us." Joseph Campbell (a partner shared this quote with us recently) We have gathered a list of community events taking place across the region. We hope you find one or more of these events or gatherings that offer comfort, community, connection as you continue your sustainable recovery journey. These events, and the organizations hosting them, are here to support healing, connection, and continued recovery. You will find some remembrance and recognition event listings below. For additional events, ongoing resources, and updates, please visit our website. We also encourage you to explore the websites of the local Long-Term Recovery Groups serving your area, including Malibu, Palisades, and Altadena, for community-specific information and support.

Overview:
Pali LTRG and Palisades American Legion Post 283 invite the Palisades community to join a special morning of observance to mark one year since the January 7 Palisades Fire. The “White Glove Flag Presentation and Remembrance Ceremony” will bring together community members, civic leaders, and recovery partners in remembrance, gratitude, and unity. The program will commemorate the twelve Palisadians who lost their lives and pay tribute to the countless individuals and groups who are helping the community recover and rebuild. Event Details:

Overview:
The Parish of St. Matthew welcomes those of all walks of life to gather in prayer on January 7 for Community Noonday Prayers at 12pm or Community Compline at 6pm. The prayers will be followed by refreshments and special Community Concerts of Remembrance, Healing and Renewal at 1pm and 7pm, organized by St. Matthew’s Music Guild and GRAMMY® Award winning violinist Anne Akiko Meyers. All events are free of charge. (Donations will be accepted at the concerts to support arts organizations in Pacific Palisades.)

Join artist Cynthia Lake, Side Street Projects, and the John Muir High School Alumni Association for a day of remembrance and creativity in honor of the first anniversary of the Eaton Fire. We will celebrate the resilience of our community through art-making, shared stories, and the creation of new memories. The day will feature art activities, music, resources, performances, and more!

Overview:
This commemoration will offer a healing space for neighbors, friends and strangers to come together, share memories and support one another, providing a moment to reflect, connect and heal. Program at 4:30 p.m., followed by a catered reception, with a memorial space, an art tribute to first responders and community members and resource booths with updates on rebuilding and recovery services. As we mark the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire, the City of Malibu invites the community to come together to reflect, remember, and honor our community’s resilience. One year after the Palisades Fire, this gathering celebrates the strength, resilience, and spirit of our community. All neighbors impacted by the fire are welcome to come together for an afternoon of food, healing arts, music, and reflection—a time to connect, support one another, and honor the ways our community continues to rise.

DENA Relief: One Year of Impact is a family-friendly community celebration honoring a year of resilience, care, and collective action. This special anniversary event brings neighbors, partners, and supporters together to reflect on the impact of DENA Relief and the power of community-driven response. The event will also feature a distribution hub and resource fair designed to uplift and support those most impacted. While this event is open to the entire community, distribution items will be available exclusively for Eaton Fire survivors due to limited supplies.
