“The CalAssist Mortgage Fund announced today a major expansion of mortgage relief for homeowners impacted by qualified disasters, offering eligible households a full year of mortgage assistance that does not need to be repaid. Families who previously received three months of assistance will be offered additional support, bringing their total assistance to a full year.
Additionally, the expansion also increases income limits to allow more families to access this assistance. In Los Angeles County, households with a combined annual income of up to $281,400 now qualify. This reflects a $70,000 increase from the previous limit. In places like Butte County, income limits are now $255,000. A list of income eligibility by county can be found on the CalAssist Mortgage Fund website.
More Help for More Homeowners Eligible homeowners can receive up to 12 months of mortgage payments, paid directly to the mortgage servicer. Disaster survivors who already received three months of assistance will be offered additional support to reach a full 12 months of help. Increased income limits. Help is available if homeowners are current on their mortgage, in forbearance, or behind on payments.
Am I Eligible? Applicant’s primary residence is destroyed or deemed uninhabitable due to a qualified disaster from 01/01/2023 through 01/08/2025. Applicant meets program income limits. Applicant has a mortgage or reverse mortgage. Applicant owns only one single-family home, condo or permanently affixed manufactured home (may include up to 4 units).
