Brought to you by the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), the goal of the Mind Your Mind Initiative is to destigmatize and redefine conversations around mental health and provide resources for teens. United Policyholders informs policyholders and advocates for fair insurance practices.
They are a useful information resource and a respected voice for consumers of all types of insurance.

Financial Resources
The Accelerator Fund is for homeowners affected by either the Pacific Palisades or Eaton Canyon wildfires. This opportunity is open to low to moderate-income households demonstrating a specific financial barrier to the next steps.
It provides grants of up to $10,000 to help homeowners overcome obstacles and move forward with their repair or rebuild process (eg to cover expenses insurance and FEMA often don’t, such as permitting fees, legal or title issues, environmental testing, utility connection delays, contractor deposits, and much more.)
If you are applying late due to emotional or mental trauma surrounding the fires which prevented you from applying; or you were taking care of a family member who was medically impaired by the fires; or you were out of the country for a significant amount of time during the fires, you can still apply and must submit a request for exception letter in order to apply. The CalAssist Mortgage Fund is a State program that provides much-needed relief from mortgage payments for displaced families whose homes were destroyed or left uninhabitable by a California disaster such as the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire.
Residents may be eligible if their primary residence was destroyed or is uninhabitable due to a qualified disaster from 1/1/2023 through 1/8/2025, they meet program income limits, they have a mortgage or reverse mortgage, and they own a single-family home, condo or permanently affixed manufactured home (may include up to 4 units). If they qualify and are selected, the Fund will pay three months of mortgage payments, up to a maximum of $20,000. Funds never have to be repaid and it’s free to apply. Grants will be paid directly to their mortgage servicer.
Funds are limited and applications will be reviewed in the order received.
The Assessor’s Office can provide support in reassessing home value after a disaster as well as tax write offs for items not covered by insurance.
Freddie Mac Mortgages may be eligible for mortgage payment forbearance for up to 12 months.
Zero-interest zero-fee loans
Personal Loans of up to $15,000 are available for people who meet our standard eligibility requirements and have two qualified guarantors.
Personal Loans of up to $7,500 are available for people with one guarantor.
Final loan amounts are at the discretion of the JFLA loan committee.
Disaster Aid for Host Families (DAHF) Program is funded in part by a grant from the American Red Cross to Support Households offering housing to individuals and families displaced by the 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires.
Eligible households can receive financial support for 3-months of $150 per person each month, with a maximum of $750, depending on the size of the displaced family they are accomodating.
Hosts may qualify for an additional 3-months of assistance at the end of the initial period.
State of California Franchise Tax Board provides tax filing information including how and when to file.

In response to the devastating fires that have impacted so many in the Los Angeles area, the Pepperdine Caruso Law Legal Clinics launched pro bono disaster response programs to support neighbors in need and lawyers looking to serve them. These events are open to the public and recordings of online sessions will be available after the event. Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles is a nonprofit law firm that protects and advances the rights of the most underserved – leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone can have access to the justice system. LAFLA provides free, high-quality legal services.
Assisting with housing, family law, bankruptcy/consumer debt, probate, civil matters, public benefits, expungements, and other issues. Open to all individuals who need legal assistance but lack the resources to hire an attorney.

Fire Recovery and Resilience Workforce Program
The Fire Recovery and Resilience Workforce Program (Program) provides immediate hiring and training support for impacted and dislocated workers from the January 2025 windstorms and wildfires with the LA County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and the region’s America’s Job Centers of California.
Home Reconstruction & Cleanup Resources
HPP Cares is designed to provide capital, leverage private capital, and provide other forms of financial assistance for the rapid deployment of low- and zero-emission products, technologies, and services; and does not take deposits other than deposits from repayments and other revenue received from financial assistance using grant funds. Hope Crisis Response Network (HCRN) and our rebuilding project, Hope City, are rebuilding homes for fire survivors who were uninsured or underinsured at the time of the fire. We will be using a mix of volunteer labor and trade subcontractors to complete these homes.
Contaminant Level Evaluation and Assessment for Neighborhoods (CLEAN) is a rapid response soil testing program from the University of Southern California. The CLEAN project is free to participants. Anyone in Los Angeles who is concerned about the impacts of the fires on soil may participate in this program, at no cost.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is offering residential soil lead testing in the area downwind of the Eaton Fire. This program is expected to run through December of 2025. Follow the link below to view the priority area.
Smoke remediation
Smoke remediation for Altadena and Pasadena renters and homeowners whose homes have been affected by the Eaton Fire from smoke and/or ash damage. Services include:
Structural remediation (this does not include HVAC cleaning)

In response to the January 2025 wildfires, a collaborative task force of government agencies and academic partners was established to assess potential impacts on air, water, soil, and human health in Los Angeles County. Through ongoing monitoring efforts, the task force aims to track environmental changes, identify potential risks, and support actions that protect communities.
The Foothill Catalog is a collection of pre-approved home designs for displaced residents to rebuild quickly and affordably, while retaining their community identity and local architectural character.
Household Resources
Habitat ReStores are independently owned reuse stores operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations. ReStores are not like other thrift stores.
ReStores accept donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items like used furniture and building materials from area landfills.

211 LA is the central source for providing information and referrals for emergencies, health and human services, and shelter in LA County. Their 2-1-1 phone line is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
LA-focused app to help people navigate every aspect of fire relief, including applying for federal, state and local government assistance; making insurance claims; temporary and permanent housing solutions; income loss mitigation; and other critical services.

Recovery Tools Workshops (RTWs)
Recovery Tools Workshops are a series of nine skill-based trainings developed by National VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) members. They are designed to equip local communities with the best tools and practices for organizing and operating long-term recovery efforts after a disaster.
Each workshop focuses on a core area of disaster recovery—from volunteer and donation management to emotional and spiritual care, construction oversight, communications, and more.
