World Renew
Community Assessment

The Los Angeles Region Community Recovery Organization (LARCRO) is partnering with World Renew Disaster Response Services to find individuals with unmet needs resulting from the Woolsey Fire in November 2018. World Renew helps communities build their capacity to prepare for and recover from disaster. Team leaders will be in our community in September.

We invite and encourage anyone with any unmet needs, whether great or small from the Woolsey Fire, to participate. This will give you an opportunity to tell your story and us a chance to document your unmet needs, and it will give us a good snapshot of where you and our whole community is in our recovery process. LARCRO will use the database of information collected from everyone in our community to write grants and to reach out to manufacturers to continue to bring more resources into our area.

Please call (818) 835-1174‬ anytime between the hours of 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday, to complete your assessment. The process will take a minimum of about 30 minutes.

What happens next?

  • A Disaster Case Manager will be in touch with you within 2 weeks of the completion of your assessment. We know you have been waiting a long time to discuss the status of your recovery and we thank you for your patience as we work through potentially hundreds of households, including yours.

  • If you have an immediate and urgent need, please do not hesitate to contact our Disaster Case Manager Supervisor, Krista Bilderbach.

What is a Community Assessment?

A Community Assessment is the process of conducting a community-wide survey to identify vulnerable survivors who need help with recovery—generally five to twelve months after a disaster. This information is then utilized by the region’s Long Term Recovery Group to partner with the identified survivors, connecting them with essential resources and support in their community.

All Woolsey Fire impacted families in the LA Region are encouraged to participate!

This is your chance to request assistance. We are here to partner with anyone and everyone impacted by the Woolsey Fire in the Los Angeles Region.

  • Everyone impacted by the Woolsey Fire should participate. Whether or not you have applied for FEMA assistance, your participation in the assessment is essential in order to compile accurate data as our community recovers.

  • This assessment is not connected to any aid received from FEMA. Any assistance you have received through FEMA is not contingent upon, nor is it impacted in any way by completing a survey.

  • Any Woolsey Fire recovery related needs that have not been met and have not been previously accounted for through FEMA registration will be recorded and reported to the Los Angeles Region Community Recovery Organization (LARCRO). LARCRO will then use the data collected to write grants and to reach out to manufacturers to continue to bring more resources into Woolsey impacted areas.

  • The purpose of this assessment is to empower LARCRO to follow up with families and individuals in their recovery process who may be in need of construction work, spiritual or emotional care, urgent medical needs, or replacement of basic household items.

  • Please have your FEMA ID number with you, if you have one.

  • If you have any questions regarding the Community Assessment, please call (818) 835-1174 and someone from LARCRO will return your call as soon as possible.
