Los Angeles and Ventura County - Disaster Recovery Public Meeting

The first public meeting is a webinar and is scheduled for April 2, 2020. The second public meeting (time and place TBD) and is scheduled for May 14th, 2020, after HCD has published the draft Action Plan for public comment. As of now, we still hope to have this meeting in person and we will monitor the situation closely and keep you posted.

The State of California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is the grantee of $1,017,399,000 of CDBG-DR funds, allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a result of the 2018 Wildfires. State of California was allocated a total of $1,017,399,000 from HUD in response to the 2018 Wildfires.

• Funds must be expended within 6 years (2026)
• This is in addition to the $162 million in CDBG-DR allocated for the 2017 disasters, and the $88 million allocated for mitigation
• HCD hopes to hear from disaster impacted residents and community leaders about their recovery need. At these meetings, HCD will discuss the following:

– Provide an overview of Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) requirements
– Provide an understanding of impacted areas, damages, and unmet recovery needs.
– Discuss recovery timeline
– Open for public comment
